Scheduling A LASIK Consultation: First Steps

Call Florida Eye Specialists at 904-564-2020 and ask for a free consultation with our LASIK eye surgery counselors. This is the first step to see if you are a good candidate.

  • If you are currently wearing contact lenses, you need to be out of contacts for 1 week prior to your examination.
  • If you are wearing contacts for astigmatism, you need to be out of contacts for 2 weeks prior to your examination.
  • If your wear rigid gas permeable (RGP) contacts, the rule of thumb is not wearing contacts for 1 week for every decade of wear. These hard contacts mold your eye and it is important to allow the cornea to stabilize. It is probably best to have an initial exam and then corneal measurements will be checked regularly until stable.

Your eye examination will be very thorough. You will be here for 2-3 hours. In addition, you will be dilated with strong acting dilating drops (can last for 1-2 days). This is important to get accurate measurements prior to surgery.
