Florida Eye Specialists is proud to announce that we are growing our team of doctors! We are honored to introduce the newest addition to our FES family, Dr. McGregor N. Lott. As an experienced professional with nearly 15 years experience in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Lott has a sincere passion for his work. We are excited to have him on our team because he allows us to provide an entirely new service line of Medical Retina for our patients here in Jacksonville.
Background
Dr. McGregor Lott received his undergraduate degree in history from Yale University. He then completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in 2002, before accepting a residency there with the Department of Ophthalmology. During his research fellowship, Dr. Lott studied the use of a drug to manage problems associated with the retina, which is the light-sensitive layer of tissue lining the back of the eye.
Dr. Lott completed his medical internship in internal medicine in 2003 at the Wake Forest University in North Carolina before completing his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia.
Job Experience
Dr. Lott relocated to Florida in 2007, where he accepted a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He earned certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2009 and continues to provide exceptional ophthalmology services to his patients in Florida. Dr. Lott joined Florida Eye Specialists after working for Mayo Clinic in his hometown of Waycross, Georgia for 9 years.
Awards
Dr. Lott is a highly respected ophthalmologist who has received a number of special awards throughout his career. Leadership Georgia honored Dr. Lott with his most recent award in 2016. The group selected 63 of 700 applicants – including Dr. Lott – to participate in a special program designed to prepare leaders in the eye care industry for future developments and advancements.
Prior to this, the 2013 Georgia Physician Leadership Academy, asked him to participate in a number of interactive learning sessions. This academy was sponsored by the Medical Association of Georgia and was designed to develop physician leaders who will optimize the healthcare system, promote the development of the medical profession, and improve the quality of life for patients under their care. Dr. Lott still adheres to that mission and is devoted to improving patient lives by training other doctors.
Dr. Lott achieved a major milestone between 2012 and 2015, when he received the Avatar Excellent Award. This award is given to doctors who reach patient satisfaction ratings in the 90th percentile each year.
