Florida Eye Specialists Offered a Free Dry Eye Screening event at their San Marco Location this past May 27 in an effort to encourage local residents to take control of their eye health during May Healthy Vision Month.
Dry eye is a condition that affects tens of millions of Americans and occurs when the eye does not produce tears properly, leading to burning, redness and irritation. Although more common in the older population, dry eye can happen at any age.

Dr. Kimberly Riordan, an optometrist at Florida Eye Specialists, said she hopes people take advantage of the free screenings, especially because more people develop dry eye during spring allergy season. “Dry eye is a very common problem, but people don’t always seek treatment for it,” she said. “Breaking the cycle of eye irritation, though, will not only make you feel better but also improve the overall health of your eyes.”
