Cosmetic surgery has long been known to enhance appearance, but there are many necessary procedures within oculoplastics that are necessary to improve your vision. These surgeries should be undertaken by a specialist – someone who’s not only board certified in ophthalmology but who specializes in reconstructive surgery.
About Dr. Kostick
Dr. David A Kostick of Florida Eye Specialists has over 20 years experience in the field of oculoplastics. He performs ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and treats a wide range of patients. He specializes in a number of procedures, including:

Surgeries Dr. Kostick Performs
Dr. Kostick specializes in reconstructive surgery and ophthalmic plastic surgery. In some cases, patients may come to him to improve their eyelid shape cosmetically. They may also need reconstructive surgery to better shape the eyelids for optimal vision, as well. Procedures he performs include:
- Eyelid Lift. The actual name for this procedure is blepharoplasty, but it’s usually called an “eyelid lift” or “eyelid surgery”. Generally, this type of surgery is undertaken for cosmetic reasons – to tighten the skin around the eyes by removing excess skin caused by sagging with age. This surgery gives patients a younger, more rejuvenated appearance and helps with vision.
- Brow Lift. A brow lift is performed to put a patient’s eyebrow back to its original placement. Often over time this area will sag, causing eyes to have a tired or droopy appearance. This procedure is also often cosmetic, though patients may experience a much better range of vision.
- Ptosis Repair. This surgery is performed on patients whose eyelids no longer open fully. This problem is often characterized by upper lids which droop over the line of vision. While the surgery does improve appearance, the largest advantage is that it improves peripheral vision.
