Common Cosmetic Eye Procedures & Options

Modern ophthalmology offers numerous cosmetic eye procedures for patients who are interested in looking refreshed or restoring some of their features to their previous state. These are some of the most popular treatments available that can help you give your eyes a brand new look.

Brow Lift

As we age, gravity tends to cause our brow lines to sag. This droopiness often causes people to look older and more tired over time. A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that essentially resets the brow to its original position, removing the droopy eyebrow appearance that sets in. Getting a brow lift can help you look younger and fresher

In some cases, the droopy brow is so significant that it impairs vision or creates additional strain on your facial muscles and eyes. In these cases, it is not just a matter of appearance; your vision is being impaired by a physical condition that should be corrected by an ophthalmic surgeon.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is the official term for an eye lift, and it is a surgical procedure where excess skin and fat deposits are cut away from the eyelid area. It is also sometimes referred to as cosmetic eyelid surgery. A blepharoplasty can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids, or you can undergo a combination of the two at the same time

As a result of a blepharoplasty, your eyes will have a more rejuvenated appearance once you have healed. Some patients choose to combine a blepharoplasty with another cosmetic eye procedure, such as a brow lift.

Eyelid Ptosis Repair

Ptosis is a condition that is also known as drooping eyelid. When this occurs, the eyelid is not able to open as far as it should, which can leave the patient looking tired. Eyelid ptosis repair is a surgical procedure that mends the weakened muscles in the eyelid to correct the droopiness.

Botox®

Botox has become one of the most popular cosmetic eye procedures in the world because it is easy to administer and highly effective. Botox is made from botulin, which is a type of bacterial toxin, however it is very safe procedure when given by medical professionals.

Botulin causes a form of paralysis in the body, and the Botox treatment is a form of mild, controlled paralysis that removes wrinkles around the eyes and brow by immobilizing the muscles in the face. The drug is injected in various points around the face with a small needle. Botox is the most widely-known brand of the drug, however there are some alternative brands on the market as well.

Latisse®

Latisse is designed for people who want thicker, longer, and more natural looking eyelashes. The serum is applied directly to the base of the eyelashes once per day, and many patients begin to see an improvement in their eyelashes in just six weeks.

These are just a few of the many different cosmetic eye procedures that we offer at Florida Eye Specialists.
