Dr. Omar Gayasaddin joined Florida Eye Specialists in 2021, specializing in laser cataract and glaucoma surgery as well as comprehensive eye care. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with extensive clinical and academic experience.
Dr. Gayasaddin earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine, where he was a consistent Dean’s List honoree. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Touro University/Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, training alongside specialists across all subspecialties of the field. After residency, he entered private practice, where he observed a growing population of patients with complex cataract and glaucoma needs — a recognition that led him to pursue fellowship training at the University of Florida to deepen his expertise in the specialty.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Gayasaddin joined the University of Florida’s Department of Ophthalmology as an assistant professor, where he directed glaucoma clinics, performed glaucoma and cataract surgery, and mentored ophthalmology residents in both the clinic and operating room.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Gayasaddin enjoys staying active, traveling, and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. He is devoted to his family and committed to serving the Jacksonville community.
