Christine Laura Burke, OD, is an optometrist specializing in ocular disease, geriatric optometry, and low vision optometry, in addition to general eye care. Serving patients in Palm Coast, she joined the Florida Eye Specialists network at Atlantic Eye Center in 2024.
Dr. Burke attended the SUNY College of Optometry, graduating in 2002. She completed her residency at the West Haven VA Medical Center in West Haven, Connecticut. Her specific areas of interest are ocular disease, medical optometry, low vision optometry, and acquired brain injury optometry.
Her awards and accolades include the American Optometric Association Eagle Award and the David J. Kerko Low Vision Award, for demonstrating excellence in vision care.
Dr. Burke’s guiding principle has always been “to treat my patients as I want my family treated.” It’s always her goal to connect with patients personally and make a difference in their lives.
For example, she recalls a patient she assisted during her residency with the West Haven VA: “Mr. K had tried to commit suicide six times due to his profound vision loss,” she said. “As my patient, I was able to visually rehabilitate him, helping him use the vision he still had. I was also able to educate his family about his abilities. After he participated in my program, his family allowed him to engage in life again (make dinner, take walks, etc.). When I checked in with him a few years later, he was a much happier person.”
In her free time, Dr. Burke enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her husband and children.
