Dr. Amit Chokshi has been caring for Jacksonville patients for more than 20 years, and his path to ophthalmology remains meaningful: he is a LASIK patient himself. That firsthand experience — the moment of waking up and seeing clearly without glasses or contacts — is something he has helped thousands of his own patients experience since he began practicing in 2004.

Dr. Chokshi is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he began performing refractive surgery early in his training. He was then awarded a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Laser and Corneal Surgery Associates at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City — one of the most competitive corneal surgery training programs in the country. Following his fellowship, he served as Director of the University of Florida Laser Eye Center and held appointments as assistant professor and director of the cornea and external disease division in the UF Department of Ophthalmology.

As a founding partner of Florida Eye Specialists since 2014, Dr. Chokshi provides comprehensive ophthalmologic care across corneal disease, dry eye, cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses, and medical eye care. He also serves as a refractive surgeon at Florida Eye Custom Vision — FES’s dedicated vision correction division — where he performs LASIK, SMILE, EVO ICL, and Custom Lens Replacement for patients seeking surgical freedom from glasses and contacts.

Dr. Chokshi’s clinical approach is grounded in a straightforward belief: the right procedure for each patient is the one that best fits their anatomy, lifestyle, and goals — not the one easiest to schedule. That philosophy drives every consultation he conducts.

Dr. Chokshi and his wife Megha have raised their four children — Sofia, Sahana, Simryn, and Sagar — in Jacksonville, a city the family has called home for over two decades. Outside of medicine, he is an avid golfer who also spends considerable time on the course as an active “daddy caddy,” following his kids as they compete in junior golf. He stays active through running and strength training.
